Caroline Flint, Minister for Planning and Housing visits St Mary, Greenhithe.
Caroline Flint visited along with Dr. Howard Stoate, M.P. for Dartford and shadow leader Mr. Geoff Prout (all pictured here with Rev. Barron) on 28th February 2008 to hear about the development plans we have here at St Mary.
Did you know that, despite the building of approximately 2,500 new homes in Greenhithe, no new community facilities have been added to Greenhithe in the last 18 years, other than those provided by the educational department at Knockhall school?
Currently we provide three Parent & Toddler groups for Mums, Dads, babies & young children. We also provide Guides, Brownies, childrens’ & youth groups, regular social events such as Ladies Pamper nights & Quiz nights; plus Christian teaching, worship, thanksgiving for the birth of a child, weddings etc.
We want to build and strengthen family life and relationships, and we wish to continue to increase the involvement and support we can give within the community.
We are in the process of raising funds which will enable us to provide parking and level access to the existing church and hall, as well as provide a public footpath from London Road into Mounts Road. In time we hope this will lead to increased community facilities and activities as well as a community venue for arts & drama.
